Acolytes - Young people (6th - 12th grade) who assist at the altar during worship services.
Adult Mission Trip: Determine a mission, then plan, prepare, and take an adult mission trip. Mission trips may consist of building, education, and medical support.
Altar Guild - Communicants who care for and arrange the linens, vessels, flowers, candles and all other things necessary or customarily used in worship. Members serve at the invitation of the rector.
Basketball - Several leagues in which men, boys and girls participate. Registration for Winter leagues will begin in October
"Bountiful" Breakfast Group - Teams of 4 - 6 men, including team captains and volunteers who cook Sunday morning breakfast in the church kitchen for members of the congregation who choose to attend.
Care For Students Away from Home - Extends ministry to students away from home through the gift of care packages.
Chalicists - A group of men and women, licensed by the Diocese, who assist the clergy with various services.
Choirs - Several groups including choral and handbell choirs for youth and adults.
Christian Formation - A wide range of programs for people of all ages and interests for Sunday and other times.
Cursillo - A profound and profoundly joyful three-day experience in Christianity held twice yearly at Trinity Center.
Day School - A non-profit, non-denominational, pre-kindergarten program for children, four and under, held in Parish, Milton and Perry Halls during the school year.
Education for Ministry (EfM) - A survey course of the Bible, church history, liturgy and theology, Education for Ministry is a study designed by the University of the South at Sewanee for the laity of the church.
Egad Egrad - Offers graduates of Education for Ministry an opportunity to continue to meet for study, worship and reflection.
Episcopal Church Women (ECW) - The women of the church who, through a variety of ministries, provide opportunities for service and fellowship to the parish family.
Episcopal Farmworkers Ministry A partnership with a nearby migrant camp this summer to bring food and clothing and offer recreational and worship opportunities.
Episcopal Youth Community (EYC) - 6th - 8th graders (Jr.
EYC) and 9th - 12th graders (Sr. EYC) who meet weekly for fellowship, service, study, trips and fun.
Greeters - Primarily a Sunday, "church door" ministry which strives to greet all visitors and newcomers and to make them feel welcome to our church family.
Layman's League - The Layman's League provides an opportunity for Christian community for the men of St. James Parish of all ages. The Layman's league participates in numerous service projects within the parish and meets three times per year for dinner, fellowship and programs of current interest.
Samaritan Guild works with individuals who come to St James church office looking for various forms of assistance. The commitment is one hour every other week.
St Anne's Guild meets on Mondays and provides study & fellowship for woman and men of the Parish.
St Elizabeth's Guild meets Sunday mornings to knit prayer blankets and shawls or parishioners who are sick or need additional comfort and support
St Francis Garden Guild is responsible to plant and maintain the St Francis Memorial and Children's Gardens.
St Joseph's Guild This newly formed guild is comprised of parishioners willing to donate time and talents in the areas of landscaping and gardening. Planting, debris cleanup, mowing, irrigation repair, building repair, refurbishing, painting and other grounds related tasks are included within the responsibilities of this group. Opportunities exist to serve either downtown or at Lebanon Chapel. We seek both skilled and unskilled labor.
St Martha's Guild Over 100 strong, this guild serves the parish in many ways. One chair is appointed each month of the year to lead nine volunteers for that month’s team. They then respond to calls from the church office/clergy to send cards, deliver plants or flowers, and meals if needed. Serving the sick, the hospitalized, the homebound, families with new babies, and bereaved families, the guild also provides receptions for funerals and special events.
St Matthew's Guild is small group of Volunteers who assist the church staff in the simple and necessary task of counting cash from Sunday services and other events that may have occurred over the past week. This task keeps St James in compliance with church and diocesan canons with regard to the handling of money.
Stephen ministry is a place in which people with special gifts for caring ministry can use those gifts with a friend, neighbor, co-worker, or relative.
Young Adult Ministry Young adults have needs and desires that reflect their special time of life. St. James would like to embrace them and offer opportunities that would attract them to a more active role in the church. This exciting ministry is for our young adults and for those special adults who would like to accompany them on their journey
