Confirmation Spring 2020
At Baptism, we are “Marked as Christ’s Own Forever.” Parents, Godparents, Families, Friends, and Parishioners commit to helping one grow spiritually and deepen one’s faith.
So, what is Confirmation?
Confirmation is the rite at which a baptized person affirms Christian belief and is admitted as a full member of The Church. Confirmation means accepting responsibility for your faith and for your spiritual growth.
Confirmation is a sacramental rite in which the candidates “express a mature commitment to Christ, and to receive strength from the Holy Spirit through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop.” (Book of Common Prayer, p. 860).
During the next few months, young people who would like to learn more about being confirmed and/or who are interested in being confirmed in May 2020 are encouraged to join the Youth Confirmation Group to learn more about this incredible step towards taking responsibility for your own faith formation within the Church, The Body of Christ. We will be gathering at various times to learn more about The Episcopal Church, Beliefs, Sacraments, Healing, Outreach, Prayer, Scripture and much more. If you have questions or if you are interested in taking this amazing journey of faith, please contact Shannon Lockamy, St James Christian Formation Coordinator, [email protected] , or Cookie Cantwell, St. James Youth Ministries Coordinator [email protected] More information will be shared next week about the commitments and our St James Youth Confirmation schedule.
