“What are you looking for?” John 1:39
Dear St. James Parish Family,
If you are like me, there remains within you a small sense of hope and mystery- every single day - when you go to your mailbox. Yes, I know and accept that the overwhelming majority of the “snail mail” we all receive mostly encompasses bills to be paid and solicitations to be made. However, that will never fully take away my curiosity and interest with what might be found in the delivery of the day.
It’s a wonderful and encouraging thing to see a personal letter or note, often with familiar handwriting, with your name on the envelope. Even more so - an invitation! Perhaps to a celebration of marriage, or a birthday, or simply a fun and festive gathering of friends. It means something to be included. It means something to be invited. I trust you know that feeling.
On behalf of the St. James staff and program volunteers, I am delighted to share with you a robust and engaging 28 page invitation for the fall season at St. James Parish. Please take the time to look through the variety of offerings, which include both Sunday mornings and opportunities through the week. There is a rich and diverse variety, for your interest and engagement. Please include yourself. All are welcome!
The Gospel of John records a moment when two soon to be disciples - Andrew and John - both filled with interest and curiosity, approach Jesus to learn more about him. Jesus asks them the same question that he asks of all of us: “What are you looking for?”
We hope and pray our fall season will offer you opportunities to find what you are looking for, and that you (and your family) will more deeply engage yourself in the life of our parish, as we all seek to see and follow Jesus Christ our Lord.
You are invited. Come and see!
Faithfully,
Phillip
