Blessing of the Backpacks

On Welcome Sunday, September 8, we want to celebrate and bless the beginning of another school year.
Students of all ages are invited to bring their backpacks, school bags, or lunch boxes to worship. The 10:15 a.m. service on Welcome Sunday will include a special blessing lifting up children and students of all ages, dedicating them to God’s glory as we begin a new school year.
We’ll be blessing the backpacks at the Peace. We invite those who will be participating in Children’s Chapel to bring their backpacks to the Children’s Chapel with them or they may place their backpacks in the chapel prior to the service. Those attending Children’s Chapel will bring their bags with them as they return to the sanctuary. Upon their return, the students will gather up front for the blessing before returning to their families’ seats.
We also invite teachers, aides, principals, administrators, secretaries, cafeteria workers, librarians, janitors, and bus drivers…come to church to be blessed, affirmed in your vocation, and encouraged as you serve children and families in your daily work!
