Spiritual Growth Moment ~ October 5, 2021
by Rachel Colonna
I was fortunate enough to say my spiritual growth started as a young child. The early memories of Sunday School, the opportunity to put the quarter or $1 bill in the offering plate, the watching of my parents say blessings and prayers, the importance of my mother teaching me the Lord's Prayer, the Bible my father took notes in at the kitchen table. All of these fragments of images have stayed with me through my formative years, college, and now into adulthood.
Today we are parents ourselves, and our spiritual journey is still developing. However, now we are helping foster the journey for our children. When the days are long, it can be difficult to get to church on Sunday. But we have a reminder that not only are we growing ourselves closer to the Lord, but we are also starting to pave the path for our children. Both of which are important.
I am more thankful now to my parents and family friends for starting me on this path, and for the sacrifices they made to keep Christ in our home and at the center of our busy weeks.
